The center for disabled kids ´Somos Hijos del Lago´ was founded in 2004. It is a daycare center for mentally or physically disabled children in Atitlán, paid and administered by the parents who fight for the rehabilitation of their children.

Orbita Spanish School supports the center economically, donating 5% of all tuition charges to help these kids. There is also volunteer work made by some of its students where they help the children with:

• Therapy

It's the children's opportunity to overcome the obstacles and to improve their self esteem by helping them develop their intellectual and functional skills to the maximum possible level.

• Education

Help us teach the children how to read, write or count.

• Recreation

Play with them, like soccer, basketball, draw, paint, do games.
Go to the market with them to buy fruits and make a licuado (fruit juice), talk about the colors, the smell or the texture of the fruits, etc.
You can take the children out, for example, rent a kayak, or just for take a walk.

• Crafts

We are showing them productive ways to make money by:
Making bracelets, necklaces, “piñatas”, paintings, etc.
